Getty Marrow ASSEMBLIES Program Intern

The Getty Marrow ASSEMBLIES Program Intern will work collaboratively with the NAVEL community, leadership and staff to support ongoing community-based public programming initiatives. The ASSEMBLIES Program Intern will help prepare for the ASSEMBLIES Fall 2021 open call for proposals, in addition to maintaining a digital archive of NAVEL programs, gatherings and events; collaborate with the Communications & Storytelling Specialist to highlight stories about ASSEMBLIES organizers and groups. The ASSEMBLIES Intern will work full time and will have the option to work remotely or onsite, pending County health guidance.

ASSEMBLIES is one of NAVEL’s main programs and initiatives, providing a platform for collaborative research, discussion and creation, through which we cultivates a space for communal learning that centers:

♡ Care   ♡ Collaboration   ♡ Experimentation   ♡ Process

For 3 months, NAVEL provides each ASSEMBLY with space, community, support, tools and resources—including access to our equipment, peer network, a facilitation and anti-oppression training and micro funding. At the end of the term, each ASSEMBLY is asked to present about their experience and/or project. Projects can take whatever format feels most appropriate, be it a presentation, performance, publication, field trip, object, website, physical structure, etc.

We are looking for intern candidates who are excited to experiment with non-hierarchical forms of curation and creation, deep community listening, and developing multidisciplinary and subversive projects in a caring, member-focused community. All interns are considered part of the NAVEL team, and invited to attend team and collective meetings. We provide mentorship, support, and time for interns to pursue an independent initiative during their time at NAVEL. We want to know: what kind of ASSEMBLY would you like to initiate at NAVEL?

The ASSEMBLIES Intern will have opportunities to directly interact with NAVEL Collective members, residents, participants, and organizers, and should feel comfortable communicating with folks from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
