Apply to serve on the 2020 Programming Committee

Apply Here

The Public Programming at NAVEL is an open invitation to experience the emergent work of our community. It is curated by a rotating programming committee, a collectively-elected group charged with developing a full annual season of original programs and events.

For the 2020 season, we are looking for five committee members who will engage a diverse and engaged community through the collaborative conception of enriching, critical, and empowering programming.

NAVEL is looking for people of all ages (18+) and disciplines with practices that imagine, experiment and actualize alternatives to the status quo, in pursuit of a more just, creative, and collaborative world. We are looking for process-oriented artists, curators, activists, writers, designers, programmers, hackers, dancers, body workers, musicians, academics, scientists, educators, thinkers, cultural practitioners, community leaders and organizers, as well as those who don’t fit neatly into these categories. We are calling all folks who seek to engage a diverse and engaged community through the collaborative conception of enriching, critical, and empowering public programming that makes kin and explores transformative ways of being, playing, experimenting, working and taking action together.

Next Committee Term: August 2019 - December 2020*
Development Period: August-December 2019
Programming Season Dates: January 2020 - December 2020

*Duration of term will vary according to your program(s) dates

The Programming Committee benefits from the use of the NAVEL space, its resources, equipment, network and full production support. Although previous experience with programming is encouraged, you do not need to have curated or organized public programs before, but you do need to have a strong willingness to do so (and collaboratively!). This is a unique opportunity to learn how to engage intimately with a critically minded group to conceive and realize impactful cultural public programs for our 2020 season.

It is important to note that this is a volunteer position and a very demanding one.
Before applying, please make sure to review all the information in this document about the committee with special attention to the degree of commitment it represents.
